The Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart hosts a free public event, the 140 Festival, on Sunday, Oct 18, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Octane reports. It marks 140 years since Carl Benz patented his motor car in 1886.
The festival will feature historic racing cars, classic-car rides, engine demonstrations and a special exhibition on the company's history, with vehicles ranging from the 1886 Benz Patent-Motorwagen to the 300 SL Gullwing (W198) and the current S-Class. The exhibition pairs historic cars with modern design interpretations: the 1937 W125 Grand Prix car alongside the 2018 Vision EQ Silver Arrow, the 1938 320 streamlined saloon with the 2016 Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, and the 1970 C111-II experimental car with the 2023 Vision One-Eleven.
The event also closes Mercedes-Benz's "140 Years. 140 Places" world tour, which began on Jan 29. Three examples of the latest S-Class covered about 65,000 km across six continents and return at a private event on Saturday. The new Mercedes-AMG GT SUV premieres at the museum the evening before the festival.
