Headline cars for RM Sotheby's Oct 31 sale at The Peninsula, and what recent results suggest.

RM Sotheby's London sale at The Peninsula on Oct 31 has added three headline cars, Modern Car Collector reported on Oct 16.

A 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, described as the penultimate roadster built, with the light-alloy engine block, disc brakes and matching numbers, carries a £1.1–1.3 million estimate. Two roadsters sold at Zoute last week bracket it: a frame-off-restored 1961 car made €1,265,000 at Bonhams on Oct 11, and a 1957 roadster made €1,041,250 at Broad Arrow on Oct 9.

A 1988 Ferrari F40 that RM describes as one of the first 50 built, in earliest specification and delivered new in Rome, is estimated at £1.8–2.4 million; Italian press coverage adds that it was later exported to Japan and fitted with racing-style modifications. A one-owner 2023 Aston Martin Valkyrie coupe with 258 km carries the same £1.8–2.4 million estimate. That's about £450,000 below the low estimate of a one-off "Anemos" Valkyrie that RM sold for £2,226,875 at the same venue last November.
